The monumental statue of Icarus in Piazzale della Vittoria in Forli, Italy, was created by Roman sculptor Francesco Saverio Palozzi in 1941.
Made of Carrara marble and almost five meters tall, Icarus, the quintessential symbol of flight, turns his gaze to the sky with a body posture that seems to want to gather maximum strength and then take flight.
Originally, the statue was presented with a base that referred to the rocks of a cliff, as mythology dictates.
