Castrocaro Terme is located 10 km from Forlì, on the road from Ravenna to Florence. The town is a popular holiday resort and an important thermal centre. Its history is closely related to the thermal baths, already known in Roman times for the properties of their salty waters. An orange flag holder, the village still retains its medieval layout almost entirely intact. The village is also famous for its imposing 10th-century fortress, the site of the Historical Museum, consisting of three architectural structures: the ‘Girone’, the ‘Rocca’ and the ‘Cannoniere’. Today restored, the fortification holds cultural events, exhibitions and shows that enrich its atmosphere, giving visitors an unforgettable experience.
TERRA DEL SOLE
A small gem set among the hills, an ideal village, an urban utopia created back in 1564 at the behest of Cosimo I de’ Medici to become the capital of elegance and Medici culture in Tuscan Romagna.
The Museum of Man and the Environment, a guardian of precious historical evidence, is worth a visit.
Terra del Sole is also unspoilt nature: the trees, the cultivated fields, the gentle hills sloping down to the plain and the lush rows of olive trees that surround it all make it a genuine oasis of serenity.
